Welcome Mosaic Artists and Beginners!
This course is designed to give students confidence in translating their designs into beautiful mosaics. They first will learn techniques used to create cold Roman mosaics using the reverse method into cement. Then they will learn a new dicipline for hot glass mosaic: fusing compatible glass tesserae (made in the class) to create works of art.
Vanessa Somers Vreeland has been creating mosaics for 20 years. her background includes paintings on bullet-proof glass and Lucite laminations. She learned her mosaic methods from professor O. Anseimi of the Vatican Mosaic Studio of Crafts, and the Columbia Museum of Art, and this year will be teaching at the Getty Museum. Her work is in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad.
